I always loved this song ever since I first heard it. It’s timeless
Island shores plucking guitar work with underindulgent electro percussion covered lightly with low register, soft, breathy vocals – think Postal Service meets Jack Johnson. I have really enjoyed Marco‘s Laptop Campfire Speed and if I wasn’t so tired I’d give this interestingly different music a proper review. Just know this: he’s good.
Just found these guys from Hype machines popular list which is a pretty good if you’re looking for something different to your usual tastes but still relatively awesome (as far as the consensus of internet popularity goes). These guys are from Omaha Nebraska and call themselves Thunder Power. Anyway, to cut this really short they are a poppy folk outfit kind of in the same vein as Belle & Sebastian, yeah a little twee.

Absolutely adore what Absofacto’s done with this mix of Ra Ra Riot’s Each Year. The bass, the tempo, the focus on Miles’ vocals – it’s beautiful. Make the time

Incredible things are happening. One, I saw on the ‘news’ this evening someone had invented a machine that extracts oil from water. That’s good right? Then there’s this
New SSLYBY? Yes please. The guys teaming up with Death Cab For Cutie’s guitarist and Carissa’s Wierd producer Chris Walla. Going to be good.

. And they’re planning a world tour… saweet.
This is a lovely collaboration between the friendly lads of Passion Pit and yet another in the long line of talented Swede’s – Shout Out Louds. The song is Fall Hard from their recently released third album Work and this mix takes the best from the original and spreads it across a warm range of electro-pop.
There’s also a really cool vid done up by one of the guitarist’s brother here which is stunning in it’s jittery-raw kind of way. You’ll understand after viewing. So they’re touring all the way into the winter (or summer really as it’s all northern hemisphere gigs) going from Europe to the states then coming back home to round it off. And of course, download the mix

My first new post on this domain, a-life.me. It’s good to have somewhere completely to my own to post whatever and I’m glad I did it. Really glad I did. Now on to the good stuff
Epic composition here with the new release from Foals – the five british-based indie minimalists have crafted a beautifully lingering reminder of why their second album Total Life Forever is being hailed as their best work to date. By me at least. The slow chords open into Yannis’ depressing lyrics which begin to rise with time to the crescendo of the piece where his chorus is drowned out by the crashing guitars, keys, symbols and drums. Feels like the intro to a Bloc Party number by this point, only if Kele had lost his puppy.

which doesn’t waste time getting into the action like the original, but that kind of takes away from the atmosphere it seems. Still, amazing song and go check the video to this one – haunting.
Forget the horror here, leave it all down here – it’s future rust and it’s future dust. I’m the fury in your head, I’m the fury in your bed, I’m the ghost in the back of your head – yes I am
