This will be a quick list:
Phoenix – If I Ever Feel Better
My favourite band Stars have released a film clip to their latest single Fixed off of the soon to be released The Five Ghosts which you can order in all varieties bar holographic mug from their store (as a side note Stars always have made great band shirts and the eerie set they have for this album is no exception). As for this track I can’t say it’s their best, but it is easy to listen to and I think that’s what you want for the first single off a new album – it’ll draw people in.
They’re currently touring across the states but you’ll have to be quick to grab tix as they’re selling out most venues. Enjoy

Yukon Blonde deliver this stellar piece, and if the story was just a but more elaborate it could be another indie harmony anthem in the likes of Fleet Foxes and to a lesser extent Library Voices. As it stands now Jeff, Brandon, and Graham leave you wanting more (which for me means repeat for my entire trip to work and back). The harmonies are wonderful though and the not one of the guys is drowning out the other with their vocals or their instruments. A very tight production which feels like one of those end-of-movie run to the airport terminal tracks; warm and fuzzy.

Sometimes hype can be a very good thing. Take Cults for example, noone had made much noise about them until twenty days ago when GvsB posted about these unknowners making some beautiful music. Now they’re all over the blogosphere, and with goood reason. I really dig this track, it’s so cheery how couldn’t you? And they’re giving it away for free – a sign of a true artists. I really wanna go out – I really want to go outside and start to see the day. You, you really wanna hold out – you really want to stay inside and sleep the light away
So this is cute. Eternal Summers – are Nicole and Daniel from Virginia in the US of A. They’re a real garage-sounding duo but there’s some glorious melodies interwoven between the fret buzz, kick drum and feedback. I love it, very raw and I’d imagine they’d sound a lot live like they do on this recording. Which is great, because it’s fucking catchy.
They’re playing SXSW so be sure to catch them at one of their shows if you’ll be there and their self titled E.P. will be released on vinyl within the week. Download this song

Now is the time to really wish yourself to future ways are precious – aww, are you kidding
These kids are from London and they go by the name of Exlovers. This track is from their EP You Forget So Easily which was released towards the end of last year. They’re currently finishing off their tour to promote this release and have about four shows to go including tonight’s gig at The Hope in Brighton. I used to live there, at least I did in the Queensland equivalent.
The song starts off with the familiar cascading guitar picking and bass buildup then comes Belle and Sebast… I mean, Exlovers’ Peter Scott crooning along to a common story of tragic love. Aww. But honestly, these guys and gal have some talent so definitely keep an eye out for them in the near future. Download the pop

The streets are sinked in the same stale liquor and there’s a cloud of doubt in my mind. I thought I saw a friend I figured for a while now I wouldn’t find
Probably the most easily accessible from their January release Contra – Vampire Weekend, the boys from NYC have wittled out a piece in Giving Up The Gun that could be taught in indie-pop 101. The catchy boppy lyrics, the spurts of twinkly samples, the ever-catchy guitar hooks and their signatory afro-beat drum loops – what more could you ask for.
Also, if you haven’t watched the video to this yet check it out here. It delivers Jake Gyllenhaal, the RZA and Lil’ Jon – how ’bout that. Download the catchiness

Your sword’s grown old and rusty, burnt beneath the rising sun. It’s locked up like a trophy forgetting all the things it’s done. And though it’s been a long time, you’re right back where you started from I see it in your eyes that now you’re giving up the gun
saw these guys @ sunset sounds, they’re a fun live band got the crowd having a great time + they’re from Brisbane. So HAH!
