It’s official – my new favourite genre is Ben Wagner’s own creation – Dream-Hop, the technocoloured area between hip-hop and dream-pop. His side project, Teen Spirits, evolves from his main moniker Hooray! which he also has recently released a new EP Puddles for free download (yes, free). In ‘

Once from the lovely land of Ottawa, Canada – monsieur Jonathan Clancy or His Clancyness now resides in the northern lands of Italy. This from his Always Mist latest release which is getting good words left, right and centre. I stumbled upon him trying to find some more artists like Wild Nothing so if that’s your cup of tea try these relaxed chords, lullaby vocals and dreamy arrangements. He’s playing some shows towards the end of July but for now

Enjoy this Ben Wagner (aka Hooray!) take on Memoryhouse’ Lately (Deuxième). If you thought you couldn’t bring across that feeling of being alone any more than the original try this on for size. For one, the opening half a minute is pure wind blowing before being brought back to Jon Brion’s familiar Phone Call melody. The sub of this mix [no memory] illustrates the ominous layers Wagner has drizzled over the original; Denise’ vocals are so far gone they sound like they’re lost in a maze of reverby-synthesiser calmness.

New SVIIB from their upcoming sophomore effort Disconnect From Desire. They were brilliant live, they’re all ridiculously good looking and it doesn’t seem that long ago since Alpinisims was doing the laps of every indie-princess’ iPod so they sure as hell can pump out the goods, what more could you ask for?
